Which software?

Hail and well met gurus.

I have been lurking, and from time to time launching my own responses to
this group for a couple of months now.

Recently, I have been evaluating a couple of software apps for brewing. You
know, Promash and Beersmith.

My OS is Win XP Pro, and Beersmith installed just fine there. Had trouble
with Promash, but it did install on a Win98 box fine. Promash support was
as concerned about my installation delimna as I, and we have found no
resolution to the issue. I use the trial on my 98 machine atm.

Getting to the meat of this post, I was wondering if you guys had a
preference of these apps? Promash is a bit more expensive, but I've seen
much more detail in thier selections. My caveat with them, I dunno WHAT
will the printed output look like, as printing recipes is not available in
the trial version.

Beersmith, on the other hand, seems a bit more user friendly for the person
evaluating the app. Also, the lesser exensive of the two. Not sure how good
their support is.

Either way, I am currently doing partial boils, and neither app has been on
the mark with OG when given my list of ingredients, ( I am measuring more
OG than they redict, and I always measure @ 60 deg.) F. This alone makes me
wanna be sure I get the better of the two apps for my money.

So, if any of you folks have advice on thes 2 apps, I would be happy to
consider this in weighing my usae of which one.

Regards,
Jerry
