You can start by reading John Palmer's How to Brew. It's online and free. There are several other books out there that are great additions to any brewer's library but they can come over time. Your LHBS (Local Homebrew Supply Store) can supply equipment, information, and books. If you buy a brew kit from your LHBS, you'll usually receive a recipe kit to brew also. Welcome to the obsession.

It is my design to die in the brew-house; let ale be placed to my mouth when I am expiring, that when the choirs of angels come, they may say, "Be God propitious to this drinker." -- Saint Columbanus, A.D. 612
