@ Growing hops in Florida

Sunday, April 15, 2007

Hello there:

I live in south Florida and I have a large backyard. My son is into
home-brewing and has

asked me to grow some hop plants for him. He has ordered three different
varieties of hops;

they might be Hallertau, Fuggle and cascade.

Is there anyone in Florida that has grown hops that would like to share some

of their experience?

I grow oranges, grapefruits, blueberries, mangos and guavas in my backyard
and they do just

fine but I was just wondering is there too much heat for the hops? Or ground
too sandy?

Thank you for your reply.

Re: @ Growing hops in Florida

They like sandy soil I believe, and lots and lots of sun. Just make sure they get watered regularly...
