Some Help Here?

Hi All,
I'm in the process of making my first non-kit beer. I'm making a light ale
as per a recipe. The recipe says to rack to secondary fermenter after 4 to 7
days depending on bubbling activity. It has been 4 days and bubbling rate
has slowed to about every 2.5 minutes. I thought I would transfer it today
but when I peeked into the fermenter there is a heavy dark foam and hops
still on top. Do I just need to wait a little longer or has something gone
wrong? I put the lid and air-lock back on the fermenter until I know how to
proceed. Thanks for any advice -

Re: Some Help Here?

don't think you have much of an issue here (foam/hops). my preference
however would be to wait a bit (the full week) longer before racking to the
secondary. there may still be some resid "float", but you'll leave that
behind. never saw the need to get in too big of a hurry. just curious,
but how long do you plan on it being in the secondary (carboy?) before
bottling?

Re: Some Help Here?

Thanks for the advice. The recipe I'm going by calls for up to 2 weeks in
secondary, depending on temp.
