when making a 5 gal batch of beer,what is the average amount of grains used
.. this batch I'm trying to make is a dark porter should I use .5lbs 1 lbs
or 1.5 lbs.I have the rest of the ingredients. I can buy this kit, but I
would like to come close as I can without buying the kit. all my hunting
buddies just loved it.and I would like to have some ready for around the
camp fire this fall

There's just no "average" amount. It depends on the beer style, the
amount of beer you're making, what kind of grain it is, and a lot of
other things.
