bleach vs metabisulfite

other than the persistence of the chlorine smell when using household
bleach, is there a compelling reason to use sodium metabisulfite powder for
sanitizing/ (my question mark key isn't working, sorry)
i get a touch concerned over the "do not inhale vapour or powder" warning on
the packet, especially as every time i open the packet a puff of powder
wafts out!

thanks

Despite the fact that sodium metabisulphate is sold as a homebrew
sanitizer, it's not very effective at it. It works better with wine,
since the pH is lower. Bleach has many shortcomings and I don't use it
personally, but it's far more effective than sodium metabisulphate.

I use bleach, but I make sure that it's thoroughly rinsed out.

I use Iodophor or Star San and don't worry about rinsing!

I'd be very worried about inhaling metabisulfite if you are asthmatic it is
a potent trigger[color=blue]
