Going Commercial in Oz

I live in South Australia and I've been thinking of going commercial. I want
to sell some more developed brews through boutique pubs. Nothing huge,
nothing I can't manage but there are some things I need to know.

Where can I find information on my legal standing (ie. do I need a permit,
etc)?
Where can I get information on required hygene standards?
Am I required to have qualifications in chemistry?

Could any South Australians who know please respond.

J

Re: Going Commercial in Oz

Why don't you start with liquor licensing? Also the gov website, sacentral
is pretty comprehensive (http://www.sacentral.sa.gov.au). You /could/ ask at
the Port Dock Brewery pub but no guarantees there of course. Good luck. With
the miserable bunch of beers available on the local pub scene, let me know
when you get them in somewhere and I will be your first customer.

Don't know how different things are down south, but a friend looked into
this here in Sydney and found that the typical "homebrew" set-up, with
plastic fermenter and the old esky mashtun and brewpot on a four-ring burner
would never be allowed. The powers that be up here would only consider
looking at your applications if your setup was on par with what you would
expect at a small brewery like Malt Shovel. Check it out anyway and let us
know how you went.
