Question about malt extract

I bought a recipe from a local homebrew store a month or two ago and am just
now getting around to brewing. The malt extract has been sitting at room
temp. The tub they put it in hasn't been opened by me. My question is
whether the extract should still be good, or would I be better off throwing
it away and buying a fresher supply?

Not sure what type of malt extact it is.. but the recipe is for an American
Weizen.

Thanks,
Jeff

As for spoiling, I think it's hard to do, since the sugar content is
so strong it retards most microbial growth.

Go ahead some make some beer.

later,

tom

Toss it...it won't kill you but it won't make great beer either. Why
waste your time when a new can is only a few bucks.

Its still good. I buy large 100# containers and use that all year round. it
wont go bad as long as it is covered air tight.

Hey, I'm changing my answer to agree with Joe! I must have misread the
qwuestion...a month or 2 is OK.

Yeah you can go either way. Personally if he has all the ingredients
ready, just make the beer, rather waiting till he makes it to the
store to buy more. This way he has a batch going fast to enjoy later
in the open sun.

later,

tom
