Whoops?

In a nutshell, I combined an Old Ale with an Irish Stout to experiment. The guy at the brew place said this would be like Imperial Stout.

I made the mistake of pitching my yeast to soon.

Figuring the yeast was toast (no pun intended) I let it cool and then pitched the other packet that came with one of the recipes.

Next day it looked like this picture. (bucket on left)

It looked as though the bucket was going to blow so I sanitized a new bubbler and did a quick switch. In that nano second switch, fermentation blew to the ceiling.

Now it's not bubbling anymore...

What to do? (Aside from: follow the simple directions mow-ron) Lol.

Is it ruined?

It's Probably OK

It might be ok. I recently had this happen to a batch of mine... for something new I tried doubling up on malt, hops, and yeast and I almost topped off my fermenting bucket with the resulting wort.

The whole thing got off to a fast start and my airlock got clogged like yours did. Luckily I noticed it before the lid popped up as much as yours, so mine did not spray the ceiling (thats gonna be a great story... ) After switching the airlock I didn't notice much activity, but after a few more days I bottled it and it is almost ready now.

I sampled the first bottle 2 days ago, and I have to say that it has the potential to be my best brew yet!! When you first pour it, it has a really active and quick rising head, but once that tames down it is really good.

So I say let it go and see what you get.
