I believe most meads taste best chilled. So I would leave it in the fridge after opening. The alcohol prevents spolage. However, there is a bacteria (aerobacter) that likes to turn alcohol into vinegar. So I would consume the beverage within a reasonable time. If you like mead as much as I do, that shouldn't be a problem

I know the guy at my local home brew shop just leaves his mead in a wine bottle in a fridge. So yeah, I would have to agree. Just keep it in a fridge and drink it within a reasonable time you should be fine.
