Question light/mid strengt beer

I have only recently started brewing beer and how do you brew light to mid strength beers. Is it less sugar, more water, change of ingredients
any advice would be warmly welcome

Are you looking for a low cal beer? If so you can try adding beno (anti-gas tablet) to the beer. It is supposed to help take care of the suger so there isn't as many carbs in it. I've never tried this though.

No, mainly the alchol content

How can work out the alchol content of your brew , is there a formula to calculate it.

You can calculate Alcohol By Weight as:
ABW = 76.08 (OG - FG) / (1.775 - OG)

And you can calculate Alcohol By Volume as:
ABV = ABW (FG / 0.794)

For a lower amount of alcohol, just reduce the amout of fermentables in your wort, i.e. less DME/LME or 2-row.

Hope this helps.
