summertime brews

too darn hot! i wanna start my FIRST BREW, but it's around 38'C in my kitchen. what can i do to cool the brew down? i am thinking about brewing by keeping the tank in a cold bath (don't worry, the shower is seperate!!), will this cause any problems? the other alternative is to use a bar fridge, turning it on/off for temp control as i've read here (can't be bothered with new thermestat). does the change in temp. ruin the brew?

There's a fearure article in BYO covering that very subject here:
http://www.byo.com/feature/13.html
There's also a low-tech method mentioned using a tub, water, t-shirt, and a fan. For the fridge idea, there are controlers that can keep the fridge at the desired temp. I have two myself. One for the kegerator and one for my fermenter/lager.

Good luck,
Wild
