hop affects...

Hi, because i couldnt wait for my first batch to finish, i started another. however the recipe called for hops at 60min (beginning of boil), 15 min and then again at end of boil. i accidentally put the second round in at 45 min (ie though 15 was into the boil instead of from the end. anyway, i was wondering how this would affect the beer.

thanks,

Mike

hops are used for 3-4 (depending on who you ask) different reasons:
1. bittering - added at the begining of the boil
2. flavoring - added near the middle of the boil
3. finishing - added at the end of the boil or steeped after the boil
4. dry hop - added to secondary after primary fermentation is complete

since you are already fermenting... i would dry hop with 1/2 ounce of the same hop in a secondary

You will end up with a slighlty more bitter brew than intended with less flavor.
Depending on the recipe it may be ok anyway ( it is ok to drink regardless).
If you like more flavor just add some to the secondary, if you had a high enough OG to support that, or if you like hop flavor.
Some people brew what I call hop vehicles. all you can taste is the hops.
