Priming Sugar

I'm brewing a porter from John Bull Mater Class. In the directions it says to add 3/4 to 1 cup of priming sugar. On the label it states no sugar needed to make 40 pints.

What's the difference?

I had a packet of priming sugar but lost it (go figure) so I added 1 cup of regular granulated sugar.

If I followed directions accordingly except for that will my beer turn out okay?

I don't see why not. It could be over carbinated possibly, but I doubt it. Let us know how it turns out.
