Hey all! from the newest Newbie

Brother in law gave me some kegs and CO2. So decided to give HomeBrew a shot. Its been a week and no bubbles???? so i removed the lid for inspection. There is a ring of "yuck" on the side of my bucket so i suspect something was happening? threw in another packet of yeast just for good measure, 2 days ago and still no bubbling from my airlock. The temperature my brew is located is approx 68 degrees. Could this be my problem? Is this too cool? Is it time to throw out this batch and start over? Dont know what to do at this point. Thanks, Eric

Welcome to the forum gordog.
Sometimes the lid doesn't seal properly and you won't see bubbles through the airlock.

Yes, as the fermentation proceeds a large mass of foam is produced. This is called the kreusen. If without an outlet, it will fill the head space in the fermenter and gradually break down and sink into the beer.

Your beer is fine. Go ahead and rack it to secondary or let it settle for for one more week then keg (your choice). The temp is perfect, you're doing just fine. Relax and have a beer.

Good luck,
Wild
