a cool wedding gift...gone awry

Hello all,

First time posting, but really intrested...long story short...

A few months back, I got married....a friend of mine purchased me a beer making system. (cheap plastic...but it got me instrested...)

Well, each recipe requires you to use the can mixes (of pale ale, or stout...etc) I want to go a step further...Is there a way to make these mixes yourself? (ala going out to the grocery store and buying wheat or oats or rice...etc...and making your own extracts) If someone could provide me the link or even just point me in the right direction...I would appreciate it

Hi. I think a good place to start would be http://www.howtobrew.com . The site contains a lot of information about brewing, all the way from extract brewing to all grain brewing.
