beer headaches

I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on a problem I have been having. Every time I drink beer I get such a bad headache I have to go lay down. I have been drinking beer for years and this is a new thing. It is like going right from sober to hungover with three beers. If I drink any other alocholic beverage I am fine, but who wants to drink vodka everytime they go out.

What type of beer? If any type then I don't know the answer. If homebrew then the ferment temps being high can cause fusel alcohols to develop and they cause headaches.

I manly drink Dos XX, bud, and coors. But it does not seem to matter what kind I drink.

Are these in bottle, keg, or can. Some commercial kegged beers have been found to have higher CO2 levels causing headaches.

I have a friend with a similar problem. What you might be experiencing is an allergy to hops or some other component of the grains. The bad thing with allergies is that even after years of exposure to beer you can suddenly have a problem. It’s much the same with other foods or antibiotics. You might try a gluten free beer, but if it’s the hops that your allergic to, that won’t help. Sorry to say, you might have to stick to wine, liquor, and cider.

That is what I was afraid of. Hate to say it but I don't think I can drink beer anymore It has been over a month since I have had one so I drank one can of Bud Light and it gave me an instant headache that lasted about 4 hours. Oh well so much for wanting to get into home brewing. Maybe I can start making my own cider or something.

I've actually heard about this as well...I think Jstevens is correct and you most definitely allergic to something...most likely the hop oils as grains are in tons of things which I'm guessing doesn't give you a problem.

Allergic to beer?!?!?!? Say it isn't so.

Hope I never come down with that one. But for I guess some back up to the sudden alergy thing, In recent years I get stopped up more due to seasonal alergies that obviously I did not have before. So I do believe it is possible to suddenly become allergic to something. BUT NOT BEER! NOOOOOOOOOO!
