Bottle Cleaning

Generally new home brewer. One of the things that takes me the longest during the process is scrubbing and steralizing the bottles. Does simply putting the bottles through a dishwasher work? This would cut down on alot of the brewing process.

Re: Bottle Cleaning

I've used my dishwasher for sanitizing. The one thing to remember is that the dishwasher needs to be rinsed out a couple of times prior to used due to the amount of soap residue. If your dishwasher has a sanitizing setting, go for it. As for washing the bottles, the old hand and brush method is the only thing I know that works. Oh and it also helps quite a bit to rinse out the bottle as soon as it is emptied.

Good luck,
Wild

Re: Bottle Cleaning

I use extremely hot soapy water and then rinse in a sinkful of hot water with a touch of bleach. I think that sterilizes the bottles and they are all ready for use. It takes time but I want to be sure they are clean.
