Ever since a clerk in the grocery store I ran into while out of town told me she made dried kale chips in the oven, I've been wanting to try them. It sounded like she dried them and baked them somehow. Does anyone else use kale in this way?

I tried to make kale chips a couple weeks ago but I messed up. Make sure you spin the leaves out and don't put salt on before baking. If you put salt on first, it draws out any remaining water and the kale is closer to steamed than chips.

This sounds like it would be interesting to try. Does the taste stay the same or does it differ? I know I am trying to find some new healthy snacks for my kids and I and if I do this right I could trick them into thinking it is a potato chip!

Lol This just sounds wrong on so many levels. Now, I do eat kale ,but dried? What do season it with?

We just used some sea salt, but you could season the kale chips with pepper, garlic, or whatever you want. Since I messed mine up, the texture was strange but they tasted pretty good; obviously salt was the predominant flavor.

I never tried drying and baking kale leaves into chips. I just know how to turn them crispy by frying them after dipping into a good batter. It may be fattening but I only eat it sparingly.

I have been wanting to try kale in a meal, and to try making the chips because I have heard they are excellent. Kale is supposed to be one of the most nutritious foods that you can eat!

Do these taste the same as the normal chips or is their a significant difference in the taste of the product? They sound like it would be an interesting concept, but I would have to be leery about the taste of them.

My mother made them the other week. I thought they were decent for what they were. I would eat them again, although she may have overdone them. It was her first time though so that could be why. I think she used just some salt for flavoring.

I tried to make the kale chips but I did something wrong. It did not come out the way I thought they should have. What I got I would not eat. I do like kale salad with wild rice, that came out pretty good.

I tried making kale chips, but I ended up with some kind of baked salad. I don't know what I did wrong either. Maybe it takes a certain kind of kale. Mine was red, green and ruffled. I used olive oil and sea salt.

I have never seen red kale before. I still haven't made the chips, but we have been mixing it in salad with spinach and lettuce.
