    Goodies are gone

I still have a little bit of candy left, but I eat candy habitually anyway so at least it's not on top of cookies! All the baked goods have been gone for quite some time.

    Jalapenos in the Ground

I've never tried planting jalapenos. I like them but we don't eat them enough to grow them. I want to try bell peppers this year though and hopefully I don't kill them.

Great Lakes Brewing Company Beer School

I see dates on there. The next one is January 15. It looks like they hold them every few weeks, so it's easy for those who live in the area to attend.

    More Energy Consumption?

Is it true that using your oven to dehydrate foods consumes more energy than a dehydrator? It makes sense to me that it would, but a friend insisted that since you are extracting the same amount of moisture in both cases, the power draw would be approximately the same.

    It's really cold out!

I remember growing up with periodic temperatures like that, but honestly I don't know how I survived. ;) My blood has thinned considerably and now 40 degrees is freezing to me. I hope you all stay safe and be careful so you don't get frostbite!

    Homemade Applesauce

Oh, I don't know that I'd want to make it myself. I'd prefer she just continue sending me some! ;) She says she doesn't do it often either, since it is pretty involved and also you need to get multiple apple varieties for better flavor.

    Wild Grapes

We have tons of sea grapes around here. Most of them just fall to the ground instead of being used. As for people picking fruit without permission, I've seen that plenty of times.

    New Years

We had some friends over and just relaxed with a few beers. Near midnight, we broke out the bubbly. Some of us had straight champagne, while others enjoyed mimosas.

    Post Christmas deals

I always want to take advantage of post-Christmas sales, but we are inevitably broke that week, so it hasn't happened yet. Even before Christmas, I noticed the holiday items were running very low, so I'm not sure how much I would have been able to find anyway.

    Homemade Applesauce

A friend of mine just gave me a jar of homemade cinnamon applesauce. I can't wait to try it! It looks chunkier than the store-bought version but I bet it's tastier.

    Wine bottle stoppers

I only have a couple wine stoppers that I received as gifts. They are similar to the first ones you linked and I don't care much for them either. Usually we finish the bottle anyway

    Thai Chai

I imagine the lemongrass and coconut is what is throwing you off. I'm not a chai fan, so I can't really give you any informed help, but it wouldn't hurt to try it cold if you don't like it hot.

I have never tried making a Rodenbach clone, but I looked online and found a recipe. Perhaps you guys can try this one and see how it turns out.

    Bottling Mishaps

I will start doing that. Thank you for the tip; it's been driving me crazy, with the bottles and just with regular dishes. My husband often wipes down dishes but you can’t do that with the bottles.

    Christmas drink traditions

We have a little eggnog and sometimes I'll drink some hot chocolate. I like the idea of giving the kids just a touch of the brandy, though; we wouldn't have been up so late on Christmas Eve otherwise! ;)

    Holiday Jam?

Is there any particular jam that you associate with Christmas? I've heard of wintergreen jam, which is probably pretty good, but I've never had it.

    Black berry jam

Well I don't know much about jam other than eating it, so I could be wrong, but I don't think it'd be easy to get the seeds out. I'd think long and hard about it before making the attempt.

    Bottling Mishaps

That's brilliant, wild. I never thought of using my dishwasher door to catch spills. Speaking of the dishwasher, are your bottles actually dry when the cycle finishes? Mine still are a little wet on the inside even after using heated dry.

    Pu erh tea

Thanks for the link, lady earl grey! I want to try the hazelberry and the spice varieties myself. I didn't realize you could get so many cups out of a teaspoon of loose leaf tea.

    Fall finales!

You must be losing your mind. There's always been a hiatus around Christmas. I miss my TV shows during the holidays. Now I have to talk to my family! ;)
