My brother has downloaded an iPhone app which has a list of recipes for beverages. I was going through the list and I saw this recipe for coffee liqueur.

Ingredients:
10 tbsp instant coffee
4 tbsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 qt vodka
2 1/2 cups water

Instructions:
Combine coffee, sugar and water.
Let simmer for 1 hour and let cool.
Add vanilla and vodka.
Age in sealed jar 2-3 weeks.

That's a basic Kahlua recipe.
Give it a try and I'm sure you'll like it.
Tip: Ferment it in the dark and let it age a couple more weeks.

Brewed coffee is too weak on its own to stand up to the potency of the liquors you’ll be using. Therefore, the goal is finding some way to create a potent enough coffee potion to add lots of flavor and sweetness to the alcohol so that you can produce a coffee liqueur with a proper ABV (20% or so). Using espresso doesn’t work because you’d need too much of it to produce the proper volume, and even then it wouldn’t have the right consistency. Brewing extra-strong coffee doesn’t work for pretty much the same reasons. The obvious solution is some kind of concentrated coffee syrup using instant and not crystals.
