German themed only

We are having a going away party for a friend who is relocating to German for work, we always talk about beer and brewing so we figured a party theme that was all German was the way to go. I know there are beers that most bars have, but what can be German themed and bought over the counter beer wise?
How about Lowenbrau? This is a fairly common beer around here and I know I can go to the grocery store and get it. Granted, I live in a small town, but if you are in a large city, you could get a variety of Berman beers and let the folks take their pick.

I might need to print that list out or email it to my account. I have a feeling it is going to be a big bash so we might end up having to check out the warehouse store. I still can not believe some stores are the size of a warehouse, guess it just shows us how much people drink.

Yes, printing out the list is probably a good idea. I was going to suggest Lowenbrau myself or an Oktoberfest, but obviously Wild's post is much more comprehensive.

A friend came in from overseas and brought some Doppelbock which was great. We also had themed food and everything left us stuffed. It was almost like a German Thanksgiving feast!

Tell me more about the Doppelbock as it sounds intriguing. I generally like bocks, so my guess is I'd enjoy it too. A German-themed Thanksgiving sounds pretty tasty as well.
