Re-canning?

Can food be re-canned if the lid does not seal? If so, do I use the same processing time the second time around, or less time?

We always used what ever we had canned and didn't seal, within a couple of days after refrigerating it. I wouldn't allow anyone to eat something that wasn't refrigerated after a canning fail. Usually it's just a jar or two so it's not a problem. If nothing else, you could freeze the product if you didn't want to eat it right away.

I would not try to can it again. We just put those jars in the fridge and used them that week. That is something my mom told me.

Very good, thanks guys. I will refrigerate or freeze anything that does not seal. Thankfully, it's just a can or two usually. I hope I don't ruin a whole batch ever since I just started canning.
