Whiskey Bottle Tiki Torch

We had store bought torches years ago and they died out pretty quick so I went on a hunt to find my own way to build them. You can buy most wicks at a store or order them online. Grab an older whiskey bottle wick it in, secure the top and light away. We only use these for adult parties so kids are not running around but they make for a great conversation piece.

What do you use for the fuel? Do you fill the bottle with vegetable oil? I imagine that you could use scented oil and it would smell lovely.

Do you attach the bottles to a base of any kind? I'm not sure how safe (or effective) they'd be at ground level. Out of curiosity, have you tried any other liquor bottles? I can't imagine it would have to be whiskey only.
