Concord grapes, for example, require about six pounds of sugar and one teaspoon of yeast per five gallons of wine. During this process, you will need to use a hydrometer. A hydrometer tells you when you need to add sugar and can tell you the alcohol content of your wine. Typically, your wine will end up having about a 12% alcohol content if you follow the recipe correctly and use the right ingredients.

Time Needed

Wine should be stored in a cool, dry place out of the sunlight once you have completed the wine making process. You will definitely want to invest in a few darker colored glass bottles and some corks to store your wine properly.
